What cookies are
A cookie is a small text file that a website asks the browser to store on the visitor's device. On the next request, the browser sends the file back to the website. This is how the website recognises that requests come from the same visitor.
Cookies themselves do not contain a name, phone number or email address. They are a technical tag, not a personal profile.
Cookies used on this website
| Cookie | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|
| PHPSESSID | Technical operation of pages and forms: links requests from the same visitor within a single visit and protects the form from repeated submission | Until the browser is closed |
| wordpress_logged_in | Sign-in to the website control panel. Set only for Institute staff and not issued to regular visitors | 14 days |
| _ga, _ga_* | Google Analytics: anonymised count of visits, referral sources and pages viewed | Up to 13 months |
| _ym_uid, _ym_d | Yandex Metrica: anonymised statistics on traffic and on-page behaviour | Up to 12 months |
Analytics tools are enabled once the website is launched. Until then, the Google Analytics and Yandex Metrica rows in the table do not apply - the website uses technical cookies only.
What analytics shows
Analytics systems provide the Institute with aggregated information: how many people visited, from which devices, which sections they read and where visitors came from.
This data is processed in anonymised form and is not linked to any specific individual: the Institute does not match visit statistics against names and contact details from the enquiry form.
How to opt out of cookies
Cookies are managed in your browser settings. There you can view stored cookies, delete them and block new ones from being saved:
- Chrome: Settings - Privacy and security - Third-party cookies;
- Safari: Settings - Privacy - Manage Website Data;
- Firefox: Settings - Privacy & Security - Cookies and Site Data;
- Edge: Settings - Cookies and site permissions.
To disable analytics only, use the official add-ons: the Google Analytics opt-out add-on and Yandex Metrica opt-out.
If you block technical cookies, some pages and the enquiry form may not work properly: the website will no longer be able to distinguish your requests from those of other visitors during a visit.
Changes to the list
The list of cookies is updated when new services are connected. The date of the current version is shown at the top of the page.
How cookies relate to the processing of personal data is described in the Privacy Policy.
