Kazakh Scientific Research Institute for Road Safety LLP was founded in 2017 to reduce crashes on Kazakhstan's roads.
The Institute conducts scientific research on traffic safety on roads and in the streets of towns and villages, as well as traffic flow studies. The aim of its work is to reduce the number of road crashes, fatalities and serious injuries, and with them the socio-economic losses from crashes.
A separate area of work is road safety assessment using the international iRAP methodology. The Institute runs its own programme for assessing Kazakhstan's roads, KazRAP, and prepares Star Ratings, risk maps and investment plans for clients.
The Institute also works on improving traffic flow efficiency and reducing the economic losses and environmental harm it causes.
