Strengthening cooperation between the scientific communities of the UK and Kazakhstan

On 24-28 February 2020, a Kazakh delegation consisting of B. Teltayev, President of Kazakhstan Highway Research Institute JSC (KazdorNII), and A. Massanov, Director of the Kazakh Scientific Research Institute for Road Safety (KazSRIRS) and President of the Kazakhstan National Association of Professional Engineers and Consultants (an association of legal entities), visited the Cavendish Laboratory, the Department of Physics, the Cambridge Central Asia Forum and the University of Cambridge. The Cavendish Laboratory is famous for the Nobel laureates who came out of it and made major contributions to science.

The visit aimed to strengthen cooperation between the scientific communities of the UK and Kazakhstan in the road construction industry. Cambridge's Cavendish Laboratory is one of the leading laboratories in Europe and the world, and cooperation with British partners, together with the transfer of the latest modern technologies, will help take Kazakhstan's road industry to a qualitatively new level, applying the experience gained in implementing the Nurly Zhol state infrastructure development programme for 2020-2025.

During the visit, the results of low-temperature bitumen testing were also presented and discussed for the first time.
